DCSVA K-8 2022-2023 Application Process

DCSVA K-8 2022-2023 Application Process

Step 1:  Download and complete the 2022-2023 DCSVA Contract.  Be sure to include original parent and student signatures.  The completed contract can be uploaded electronically in step 2, delivered in-person, or mailed to E. Lawson Brown Middle School, 1140 Kendall Mill Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360

*Please Note: Completion of this Contract does not guarantee or otherwise ensure enrollment into the DCS Virtual Academy for the 2022-2023 school year.  A student seeking enrollment into the DCS Virtual Academy must first satisfactorily complete an application and evaluation process to be used to determine that said student is a qualified and appropriate candidate for enrollment at DCS Virtual Academy.  Said application and evaluation process shall include, but is not limited to, a review of the student’s past academic performance, prior state assessments scores, teacher recommendations, student self-reflection, absences and evidence of family support.  The Davidson County Schools specifically reserves, in their absolute and sole discretion, the right and authority to deny enrollment to the DCS Virtual Academy based on the results of said application and evaluation process.

Step 2:  Complete the 2022-2023 DCSVA Application.  This application includes an option to upload the contract from Step 1, a student self-reflection, and an opportunity to identify 2 teachers who will complete a recommendation for the student.

Steps 1 and 2 are completed by the student/parent.

Step 3:  DSVA staff will review each students application information from Step 1 and Step 2 along with 2 teacher recommendations, the students previous classroom grades, previous state assessment scores, attendance records, and evidence of family support against a scoring rubric

Step 4:  Students and families will be notified of acceptance status once the application has been reviewed.

High School Students - Beginning for the 2022-2023 school year Davidson County Schools Virtual Academy will serve students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  While the High School Virtual Academy will not exist as a stand-alone opportunity as it did this year, high school students will have the option to enroll in virtual “elearning” courses through their residential high school.  The school principal and/or designated staff will approve or deny elearning courses as a part of the registration process for each student.  Students may be approved for individual elearning courses or as a full time elearning student. Interested students should contact their home school principal for more information about eLearning.
